Another Chinese NY has quietly entered itself into our calendar. Like a squirrel secretly leaving a kernel by the tree branch. The year of the pig has sneaked upon us. Now the build up begins, the cooking, the dragons and lions and the fire crackers.

Mum is overseas this time around, so for the first time, Phyllis and Paul are left to their own devices for entertainment values. More precisely, Paul is left to himself, as Phyllis had to work till 9 pm.

Chinese NY traditionally is a time for families. It’s time to reconnect, relish and revitalise for another year. The year of the PIG holds many promises, including unprecedented prosperity and unbounded good luck. I will wait and see how much of that is in fact true.

Xing Niang Hao!
